Bhattathirippad cremated

KOTTAYAM: The cremation of the highly respected vedic and tantric exponent Sooryan Bhattathirippad, the patriarch of the Sooryakalady Mana here, was held at his house compound on Saturday noon. The 75-year-old Mr. Bhattathirippad had breathed his last in the early hours of Saturday.

The Sooryakalady Mana is closely associated with many of the legends of erstwhile Travancore and the family was associated with tantric rites conducted by the royal family. A Sanskrit scholar, Mr. Bhattathrippad was associated with many of the tantric rites held both within and outside the country. He was also one of the architects of the progressive `Paliyam Declaration.' — Staff Reporter
