KOLLAM: A young couple and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a KSRTC fast passenger bus at Kalluvathukkal junction on National Highway 47 at 10 a.m. on Monday. Those killed were identified as Joonu (29), his wife Sreeja (25) and their daughter. They were natives of Paravur and were proceeding to Kollam on the two-wheeler. The bus involved in the accident was bound for Thiruvananthapuram. Eyewitnesses said that the motorcycle got entangled under the bus and was dragged for more than 100 metres. Though local people rushed all the three to a nearby private hospital, they were declared dead on arrival. An irate mob later stoned the bus. Traffic was held up for more than 30 minutes following the accident. The Paripally police have registered a case.
