Shrishail seer calls for fight against dowry

Shrishail Jagadguru Sabhabhavan inaugurated in Hubli

    FOR NOBLE CAUSE: Sabhabhavan, Pralhad Joshi, MP, inaugurating the Shrishail Jagadguru Sabhabhavan, constructed by the Shrishail Peetha, in Hubli on Saturday.

    HUBLI: True religion is that which helps in imbibing humanitarian values, helps one to prosper through noble professions and that which strives hard for making everyone's life happier, Umapathi Panditaradhya Swamiji, seer of Shrishail Peetha, has said.

    Speaking at the inaugural function of the "Shrishail Jagadguru Sabhabhavan" here on Saturday, the swamiji called upon people to say "no" to dowry.

    The swamiji announced that Sabhabhavan would be given to those on priority who say "no" to dowry and called upon everyone to put up a united fight against dowry menace.

    The swamiji said that the Shrishail Peetha plans to establish an educational institution at Hubli under the aegis of Sri Jagadguru Panchacharya Vishwadharma Vidyapeetha.

    He said the Peetha plans to establish a free hostel at Hubli for around 100 poor meritorious students to help them continue their studies. An amount of Rs. 1 crore collected from the devotees has been set aside for the purpose, he said.

    Inaugurating the Sabhabhavan, Pralhad Joshi, MP, recalled the contribution of the "Panchapeethas." Senior advocate S.S. Shettar appealed to the swamiji to make use of the Sabhabhavan for providing religious education.

    Former Ministers Jabbar Khan Honnalli and A.M. Hindasageri, I.G Sanadi, Former MP, Ashok Katwe, Former MLA, Ranga Baddi, Council Member spoke on the occasion. Sri Shivasiddha Someshwar Swamiji of Bhootaramanahatti Mukti Mutt, Belgaum delivered `aashirvachana'.

    Seers from several maths across the State, eminent personalities, leaders of various political parties took part in the programme.

    G.R. Andanimath, senior advocate, welcomed the gathering. Prakash Bendigeri proposed a vote of thanks.
