Kumaraswamy to inaugurate function to mark seer's birthday

    Shivakumara Swamiji

    HASSAN: The Old Students' Association of Siddaganga Math and devotees will organise a function to celebrate the 99th birthday of Shivakumara Mahaswamiji of Siddaganga Math here on Sunday.

    Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji of Suttur Math, Nirvana Mahaswamiji of Kanakapura Math will participate in the programme, Shivalinga Swamiji of Tannnerahalla Math has said.

    Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, he said that Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy would inaugurate the function. Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda would preside over it.

    Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Sreekshetra Shravanabelagola would deliver the felicitation address.

    M. Rajashekara Murthy, MP, and former Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash would speak on the contribution of Dr. Shivakumara Mahaswamiji to society, he said.

    Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa would lay the foundation stone for the Shivakumara Swamiji Women's Hostel building and former Minister H.C. Srikantaiah would unveil a portrait of Basaveshwara.

    Minister for Agriculture Bandeppa Kashampur, B.B. Shivappa, Harnahalli Ramaswamy, B. Shivaram and H.S. Prakash would participate, the swamiji said.

    Chairman of the reception committee H.D. Revanna would welcome the gathering. Former Minister V. Somanna would deliver the keynote address.

    In the afternoon session, former Minister Leeladevi R. Prasad and advocate Manjula Devi would speak on "Women in views of Basaveshwara". Minister for Labour Iqbal Ansari and president of the Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha Bheemanna Khandre would participate as chief guests.

    Heads of various maths would be present, he said.
