MYSORE: Though the Government is firm on shifting the bus stand in Mysore from its present location, a final decision on the venue will be taken after holding a detailed discussion with the authorities concerned. Transport Minister N. Cheluvaraya Swamy, who has already proposed J.K. Grounds as one of the venues, said on Saturday that a decision would be taken in a month's time. Reacting to opposition from various quarters to J.K. Grounds as a new venue, Mr. Cheluvaraya Swamy said he would hold talks with all concerned before arriving at a final decision in the matter. "We will keep in mind the convenience of the passengers and the general public while taking a decision in the matter", he told reporters at a press conference in Mysore on Saturday. The Government was keen on finalizing the new venue for the bus stand as early as possible. "A decision will be taken in a month's time and the foundation stone for the new bus stand will be laid by the Chief Minister by the first week of next month", he said. "If J K Grounds does not prove to be feasible venue, we will drop the proposal and consider an alternate location", he said when his attention was drawn to the strong opposition from various quarters. Mr Cheluvaraya Swamy said he was aware about the shortage of staff in various Road Transport Offices (RTO) in the State, including the Mysore RTO.
