Henin-Hardenne blasts Mauresmo to reach final

BERLIN: Justine Henin-Hardenne breezed past top-ranked Amelie Mauresmo 6-1, 6-2 on Saturday to reach the German Open final, where she will meet Nadia Petrova.

Henin-Hardenne needed just 57 minutes to win the most one-sided of her nine meetings with the Frenchwoman. The Belgian wrapped up victory with a forehand deep into the corner to take her record to 24-1 at the French Open tune-up she has won three times.

At Berlin (WTA German Open): Semifinals: Nadia Petrova bt Li Na 6-1, 6-0; Justine Henin-Hardenne bt Amelie Mauresmo 6-1, 6-2. Quarterfinal: Amelie Mauresmo bt Martina Hingis 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

At Prague (WTA Prague Open): Semifinals: Samantha Stosur bt Peng Shuai 6-1, 6-3; Shahar Peer bt Kaia Kanepi 6-3, 6-0.

At Rome (ATP Rome Masters): Quarterfinals: Gael Monfils bt Andy Roddick 6-2, 6-3; Rafael Nadal bt Fernando Gonzalez 6-4, 6-3; Roger Federer bt Nicolas Almagro 6-3, 6-7(2), 7-5. — Agencies
