VIJAYAWADA: The Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences cancelled question papers of MBBS second year microbiology and third year social & preventive medicine examination following reports that the papers were leaked, and conducted the examination afresh after an hour on Saturday. At most places, students were compelled to write the examination twice, as they had already answered the "leaked question papers." As soon as news about the leakage broke out, the university authorities swung into action and cancelled the leaked papers and faxed a new set to all the medical colleges to avert discontinuation of the examination. What is interesting here is that all the three sets of question papers of both subjects were leaked. The university authorities had to set two new papers immediately for conducting the examination.
Delay by 1 hour
UHS Vice-Chancellor R. Sambasiva Rao said that reports of leakage of question papers had been confirmed and that the papers were changed immediately. The examination was delayed by an hour as a result of this. University officials were yet to establish as to where exactly in Andhra Pradesh the question papers were leaked. It was confirmed that the leaked papers went into wide circulation among the students, who employed hi-tech communication modes such as SMS to share this information. Siddhartha Medical College Principal G. Eswar said that they began the examination at 10 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. following the change in the question papers. "We received information from the university authorities to cancel some papers. So, we waited for the new set of papers and continued the examination," he added. The delay caused a little inconvenience to the students, but the little delay was better than postponing the examination to another day altogether, university officials said. Police officials visited the health university and inquired into the leakage. Machavaram CI Y. Jagannadha Rao said that based on press reports, he came to inquire into the leakage of papers.
