SSLC: last date for applications for retotalling, revaluation is May 20

Staff Reporter

Supplementary examination to be held from June 9

  • Candidates who want photocopies of answer scripts cannot seek retotalling of marks
  • Fee for photocopy of one paper is Rs. 300, and that for revaluation is Rs. 150
  • Fee for appearing for the supplementary examination has been increased

Bangalore: T.M. Kumar, Director of the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB), has said the last date for submitting applications for retotalling and revaluation and obtaining photocopies of answer scripts of the April 2006 SSLC examination is May 20.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, he said candidates who submitted applications for photocopies could not seek retotalling. Candidates could request for revaluation within five days of receiving photocopies of answer scripts. The fees were Rs. 300 for a photocopy of one paper, Rs. 150 for revaluation and Rs. 700 for retotalling. "The fees paid for retotalling and revaluation will be refunded if the candidate receives more than five marks in the processes," he said.

    Supplementary exam

Mr. Kumar said the supplementary examination would be held from June 9 to 14. The fee to be submitted had been increased. "Since the cost of printing the question-and-answer booklet is high, we were forced to increase the fees," he said.

Candidates will have to pay Rs. 150 for one paper, Rs. 250 for two, and Rs. 300 for more than two papers. Repeaters can write the examination in the old system only until March 2007.

The results of the supplementary examination will be announced by June-end to enable students to apply for admission to pre-university courses.

"I am confident that the results will be announced by then as the number of students taking the examination will be less," he said.

    Marks cards

Mr. Kumar said the marks cards would be despatched to schools by the month-end. "Students need not have the marks card to apply for admission to pre-university courses.

The institution head could attest the statement of marks, and it could be used for submitting applications to pre-university courses," he said.

Regarding a case filed against a teacher who allegedly made available two questions before the SSLC examination, he said that the case was filed against Govindan of Sharada Vilas School in Mysore, and he obtained anticipatory bail.

He said KSEEB was investigating the matter.

The board was also investigating cases of mass copying that was reported from a few centres.
