Chennai: Sachin Tendulkar, recovering from a shoulder operation he underwent in March, will practise at the MRF Pace Foundation from May 15 to 20. Confirming this, MRF Pace Foundation head coach T.A. Sekar told The Hindu on Saturday that he had received communication to this effect from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) executive secretary in-charge Ratnakar Shetty. Tendulkar's injury concerns have kept him out of the five-match one-day series in the West Indies. His focus now is to attain match fitness before the Indian team for the four-Test series in the Caribbean is announced on May 24. Sekar said, "the Foundation has practice wickets where the ball comes on to the bat, a gym and a swimming pool. Tendulkar can follow the schedule drawn up for him by Indian team physio John Gloster. Fitness trainer Ramji Srinivasan will be around to guide him here." He added, "it is a great opportunity for the young pacemen at the foundation to bowl at Tendulkar. It will be a learning experience for them. Tendulkar too can get into a good batting rhythm against pace with eight to 10 bowlers operating at him. We have different types of wickets including a cement surface and Tendulkar, as he has said in the past, likes the pitches here."
