HYDERABAD: MBBS students in the second and third years went through an ordeal as they were forced to write an examination in the same subjects twice within a space of five hours on Saturday. Unaware that the Microbiology Paper II and Community Medicine Paper I question papers had leaked, the students began writing the examination at 9 am as scheduled.
`Casual attitude'
To their chagrin, their college authorities informed them about the leakage only after they had completed answer the question paper at 11 am. Within half an hour, the students began writing the examination again, this time with the fresh question paper, in the sweltering heat. Bitterly complaining about what he called the `casual attitude' of the NTR University of Health Sciences, the administrator of a medical college said news about the leak had spread on Friday evening itself. The university could have spared the students the ordeal of writing the examination twice by asking medical colleges to wait till the fresh question papers were faxed to them.
Exams postponement
He also pointed out that the university had for some unknown reasons postponed almost all undergraduate medical examinations till mid-May when the summer is at its peak. As a result, the academic year for MBBS IInd year students had stretched to more than 20 months, he added.
