GUNTUR: Two Sub-Inspectors and a constable were arrested within a span of 16 hours in Guntur district for allegedly accepting bribe. Arundelpet Sub-Inspector of Police (Crime) Sheik Khasim Saida was arrested on Saturday morning for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.3,000 from an MCA student M. Kranti Kumar for closing a `false case' against him. Anti-Corruption Bureau Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Mahipal Reddy said that the management of Deepthi Coaching Centre had filed a theft case in Arundelpet against the boy as he had filed a cheating case against the coaching centre. The SI had demanded Rs.10,000 for closing the case, but settled for Rs.3,000 and the ACB sleuths caught him red-handed. In another case at Amaravathi, the ACB trapped local Sub-Inspector Alahari Koteswara Rao and a Constable, for allegedly demanding Rs.10,000 to close a case between two persons through compromise.
