80 per cent in Prakasam install capacitors: Collector

Praja Patham programme concludes in the district

ONGOLE: About 80 per cent of farmers have installed capacitors to their motors in Prakasam district and the remaining would follow by month end, said district Collector B. Udaya Lakshmi.

Addressing a meeting got up here on Saturday to mark the conclusion of Praja Patham programme held in the district from May 7 to 12, she claimed that the farmers are being supplied power for seven hours a day. She said that officials and elected representatives visited the model villages and model wards and supervised the development activities under Indiramma programme.

She said that 2.25 lakh ration cards were distributed in the district covering all eligible families in the district. As Praja Patham programme concentrated on drinking water problem last year, there were fewer complaints this year. She exhorted women not to fall prey to the micro finance companies but organise themselves into self-help groups and get financial assistance from banks.

The district administration is constructing 66,000 houses in 369 model villages and wards selected for this year.

Darsi MLA Buchepalli Subba Reddy, said that the Congress Government is providing ration cards, pensions, pucca houses, power connection, roads, drinking water to all people in without giving scope for political or caste discrimination.

District Revenue Officer, B. Rama Rao, presided.
