CHENNAI: Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital commissioned its state-of-the-art speciality block and lecture halls on Saturday. Inaugurating the block M.S. Swaminathan, chairman of M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, urged the college, situated in Maduravoyal, to concentrate on taking technology to the people for their benefit. He said the college and the Foundation could unite to use their expertise and infrastructure to help people in rural areas. The block will have inter and intra-departmental networking, digital X-ray, intraoral camera and ten-headed microscope to enable electronic transfer and storage of patient records. The three-storeyed block will have four lecture halls equipped with provisions for multimedia presentations and audio systems. The college has been accredited with "A" grade status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
