One more held on car theft charge

MANGALORE: The Mangalore South (Pandeshwar) police, who busted an inter-State gang of car thieves on Friday, have arrested another person who is reportedly a member of the gang and recovered a stolen car from him. The accused has been identified as M.K. Samad (39) of Pune, according to Superintendent of Police B. Dayananda.

Mr. Dayananda said Samad was using the stolen vehicle by changing the number plate and he had sold it to a person in Sakleshpur of Hassan district. Police have also recovered 11 stolen vehicles from the accused.

Raids

Sleuths of the District Crime Intelligence Bureau raided a gambling den at the MUDA commercial complex at Suratkal on Friday. They arrested Siddique of Bajpe and seized cash and other items worth Rs. 12,000 in this connection.
