Rs. 2.04 crore stolen property recovered

CHENNAI: The Chennai Metropolitan Police have recovered stolen property to the tune of Rs 2.04 crore since January.

This constitutes 52 per cent of the total stolen property.

Available data with the police showed that since January, four cases of `murder for gain' cases were reported of which two had been detected. The police had solved eight robbery cases out of 13 that were reported.

A total of 35 major thefts were reported of which the police had detected 29 cases.

About 152 pocket-picking cases were registered and the police had detected 150.

Nearly 20 grave burglaries were reported of which the police had detected 10 cases.

In all 19 cases of grave burglaries were reported, but police were able to detect only 10.

The data revealed that a total of 81 cases of chain snatching were reported and the police were able to detect 44 cases.

A total of 135 burglaries were reported during the period and the police had detected 49 of them.

Similarly, 129 two-wheelers were stolen and the police were able to trace 62 vehicles.
