Assembly will meet on May 17

CHENNAI:
Governor Surjit Singh Barnala has summoned the 13th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly to meet for its first session on May 17 at 9.30 a.m. The newly elected members will take oath on that day.
Meanwhile, Mr. Barnala has appointed the Poonamallee constituency MLA, D. Sudharsanam, pro tem speaker. He will take oath on May 16 (5 p.m.) at the Raj Bhavan, according to an official release.
The election of Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly will be held on May 19, Friday at 9.30 a.m.
Mr. Barnala will address the newly constituted Assembly on May 24, the release from the Assembly secretariat said.
