NEW DELHI: There will be many more friendly faces at Delhi airport soon. In an effort to bring about visible changes, the GMR Fraport consortium is planning to introduce more help-desks at both the international and the domestic terminals of Delhi airport. "There will soon be floorwalker counters to help aged passengers. Interns from the hospitality industry will man these counters. The idea is to provide assistance to senior citizens travelling by flights. It will also give these trainees a chance to be able to learn how to handle problems," said an official at the airport. A bid to make the airport more visitors friendly, the GMR Fraport group is also planning to introduce help-desks at the International airport for first-time travellers. With large number of uneducated people from rural areas travelling abroad to work, there is a need to cater to this section that largely goes ignored. "These help-desks will provide them assistance they need. From helping them fill up the immigration forms to guiding them through the various procedures, those manning these counters would ensure that they don't wander around helplessly. Most of these people have a tough time understanding how to go about things," said an official. There would be information booths also to assist passengers at the domestic terminal too. These kiosks would be set up within the terminal to assist passengers and are expected to be functional in almost two months. Apart from reaching out to visitors and passengers, the GMR Fraport consortium is also trying to be `helpful' within the organisation. Hoping to create a better working environment, the group plans to set up support cells to address the issues that employees might have on a mission mode. "These booths will have a member from the Airports Authority of India as well as someone from the joint venture company. The idea is to remove any doubt or apprehensions that the employees might have and get their feedback," revealed an official at airport.
