Rs. 2.5-lakh worth jewellery stolen from bus passenger

HYDERABAD:
Gold ornaments weighing 25 tolas, worth Rs. 2.5 lakhs, were stolen from a passenger's suitcase in a Garuda bus of the APSRTC on Saturday.
Ashok Kumar, 45, of Vijayawada, boarded the bus at Vijayawada for city with his family members in the morning.
He kept the steel box containing jewellery in a suitcase and got down at Ameerpet in the evening.
He opened the suitcase after reaching home.
"While the steel box was in the suitcase, the jewellery was missing," he told the police.
He maintained the suitcase had a number combination lock and locked it before boarding the bus, Punjagutta ACP Gopal Raju said.
A theft case was registered.
