Latin Catholic association flays UDF

KOCHI: The Kerala Latin Catholic Association's managing council has blamed the `anti-backward stance' of the United Democratic Front for its defeat in the Assembly elections. Though the UDF had promised that it would reinstate lost benefits to backward communities, it failed to do so. Moreover, minorities were exploited the most during the UDF rule and the Government failed in initiating action against the perpetrators, the council said in a statement here on Saturday. - Staff Reporter

LDF's stance

criticised

KOCHI: The All India Catholic Union has denounced the `pro-fundamentalist attitude' of the Left Democratic Front and alleged that this was to a large extent responsible for its victory in the Assembly polls. The United Democratic Front's failure to prevent some leaders of the Indian Union Muslim League and the JSS from contesting the elections too proved beneficial to the LDF, the union joint-secretary P.P. Babu said in a statement here on Saturday. - Staff Reporter
