RBI to issue new

Rs. 10 notes

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will shortly issue Rs. 10 denomination banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi series, without inset letter in numbering panel, bearing the signature of its Governor Dr. Y. V. Reddy.

While some of the security features of the existing Mahatma Gandhi series have been retained, a few new security features have been added and modified.RBI Chief General Manager Alpana Killawala, in a press release on Friday, said all the notes in Rs. 10 denomination earlier issued by the bank would continue to be legal tender.

Rice, kerosene

The State Government has released rice and kerosene allotted for new ration cardholders for the month of May.

Merit awards

The Prabandham Educational Society has invited applications for award of cash prizes to meritorious students of VII, X, Intermediate, Eamcet, IIT, AIEEE, BITS, AIMS, JIPMER, AFMC, graduate and post-graduate examinations held this year.

Apart from cash awards, the society would give financial assistance to economically backward students.
