Two killed, three injured in road accident

The victims' car was involved in a collision with a lorry

BANGALORE: A man aged around 40 and his one-year-old son were killed when the car by which they were travelling collided with a lorry near Arena Factory on Devanahalli Road in Chikkajala police station limits on Saturday. Three of their relatives who were injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.

The victims were identified as Suresh and his son Shreyas. The injured have been identified as Rukmini (40), Chandrakala (25) and Usha (36), all residents of Peenya Dasarahalli. They were going to Devanahalli. Suresh and Shreyas died on the spot. The police have seized the lorry and are on the lookout for its driver.

Chains snatched

Five persons were relieved of gold chains in different incidents since Friday night.

Two motorcycle-borne men relieved Roopa of her gold chain worth Rs. 25,000 on 15th Cross, H.S.R. Layout 3rd Sector on Saturday. According to the police the miscreants snatched the gold chain while she was walking down the road to catch a bus to her office. The Madiwala police have registered a case.

Another woman was relieved of her gold chain while she was returning home in Bhuveshwari Nagar after dropping a friend at the bus stop on Friday night.

According to the police, Pramila came to the bus stop to drop her friend Satyavathi. While Pramila was returning home, a person on a motorcycle snatched her gold chain. The Hebbal police have registered a case.

Sanjeev Kumar, a garment factory employee, was relieved of his gold chain worth Rs. 15,000 while he was talking to a friend at a telephone booth at the BDA complex in Indiranagar on Friday. According to the police, Mr. Kumar of Vidyaranyapura was returning from his factory in Pai Layout. He stopped at the telephone booth to make a call to his friend. While he was speaking to his friend, a person came up to him, snatched the chain and ran away. The Indiranagar police have registered a case.

Another person also by name Sanjeev Kumar was relieved of his gold chain worth Rs. 15,000 in Indiranagar 2nd Stage on Friday. The incident occurred when Mr. Kumar was answering a call on his mobile phone.

Babu, a police constable attached to the Vidyaranyapura police station, lost his chain worth Rs. 15,000 at Sharadamba Nagar in Jalahalli police station limits on Friday night.

According to the police, the miscreant put his hand through the window and snatched the chain while Babu was asleep.
