THE PUBLISHERS of Manorama Year Book have come out with A Directory of Higher Education 2006, for students completing Plus-Two and aspiring to do higher studies.

The directory contains information on almost all the courses available to students in India. It also lists the colleges where these courses are offered. The directory gives names of leading universities abroad and also detailed information on gaining admission to universities in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia. Also, a list of leading universities in the U.S. is provided.

The directory lists nursing schools, an exhaustive list of engineering colleges in south India, with additional information on number of seats available under different branches. The directory gives information on many niche careers such as mechatronics, sign language, geophysics and sports medicine. It also gives information on new-age careers. The directory also has information on all major entrance examinations such as the IIT JEE, CBSE All India Pre-Medical Examination, and CBSE All India Engineering Entrance Examination. There is also information on availability of various student scholarships.

It features an article on the emerging career trends by career counsellors Usha Albuqerque and P.R. Venkitaraman on niche branches of engineering, retailing, forensic science, graphic design, and medical lab technology. Available at all leading bookstalls, the book is priced at Rs. 75.
