NEW DELHI: The Women's Cell of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has recommended ``appropriate'' action against a girl student for lodging a false complaint of eve-teasing against two unidentified persons. The cell, after investigation, arrived at a conclusion that the complainant Farha Aziz Khanam had lodged the complaint to gain cheap popularity and has found her guilty of ``conspiring to malign the name of the university.'' In another case, M. Shabbir, Professor and Head of the Department of Law, has been placed under suspension, following a complaint of harassment by a foreign student. In its 18-page order, the cell has stated that Ms. Khanam met the Vice-Chancellor on February 2 at 5-40 p.m. to lodge her complaint. However, at the same time she sent a four-page e-mail to the media, social organisations and other individuals, calling upon them to condemn the university administration for ``inaction.'' Ms. Khanam had no answer when asked to explain how could she be present at the Vice-Chancellor's office and send the e-mail at the same time. She did not wait for the university to act on her complaint before sending the e-mail, according to Public Relations Officer Rahat Abrar.
