Rural housing policy soon, says Minister

States asked to finalise Indira Awas Yojana wait list

NEW DELHI: The Government will formulate a national rural housing policy within two months to provide shelter to the rural poor, Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, has said. Speaking to reporters after reviewing the progress of the implementation of rural development schemes in various States and Union Territories here, Mr. Singh said the States had been asked to finalise the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) wait list to ensure transparency in allotment of houses.
