VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam MP Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy has urged the Railway Board to provide a two-minute halt at Duvvada for originating and superfast express trains through Visakhapatnam. In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Railway Board in New Delhi, J.P. Batra recently, he said there were repeated requests from the public in various walks of life for the halt for the benefit of about five lakh people in the industrial belt of Visakhapatnam.
Foot-overbridge
The MP also sought amenities at Duvvada railway station which include construction of a foot-overbridge (FOB) from Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone to near platform no.1, shifting of track and widening of platform no.2 at higher level for providing FOB, STD phone, toilets, tea and book stalls, extension of the existing shelter on both sides at platforms no. 1 and 2 to protect passengers from sun and rain and display reservation status of all trains at Duvvada station.
Representations
Mr. Reddy also enclosed the representations received from Duvvada Railway Station Users Association and Visakha Steel Employees Congress along with his letter to Mr. Batra.
