Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) here is introducing new methods for SKU Common Entrance Test (SKUCET-2006) to be held from May 15 to 24 at Anantapur and Kurnool centres. For the first time, OMR answer sheets are being used for the entrance test for admission to 32 postgraduate courses. Besides, the scanned photograph of the candidates would also be printed on OMR answer sheets to avoid impersonation in the entrance test. As the photograph of the candidate appearing for the entrance test would be on the OMR answer sheet this time, the chance of impersonation has been ruled out. In all, 16,683 candidates have applied for the entrance test for admission into 32 post-graduate courses. While 9,038 candidates would take the test at centres in Anantapur, another 7,645 would appear for the test at Kurnool. A maximum of 3,023 applications were received for M.Sc Chemistry. Andhra University
Vice-Chancellor L. Venugopal Reddy laid the foundation for the two hostels, one in the south campus and the other in the north campus (engineering college) last week. AU has some foreign students on its rolls at present and with better facilities, both for their stay and quality education, it hopes to increase the number. More foreign students on the rolls also means increased revenue in the shape of fee for the university. This will also help the university to improve its NAAC rating. In its efforts to impress the NAAC Peer Team that visits the campus next year, AU is concentrating on improving the facilities. All departments will be computerised and every member of faculty will have his or her own PC with Internet facility. This has been planned during the term of former Vice- Chancellor Y.C. Simhadri and one hopes the computerisation will be completed well in time before the NAAC Peer Team's visit.
