Thrissur: Ezhavas will continue to project their religious and casteist identity as long as other communities secure undue benefits in the name of religion and caste, Vellappally Natesan, SNDP Yogam leader, has said.

Inaugurating a building of the Kuttur branch of the SNDP Yogam here on Sunday, Mr. Natesan said that society should know that the maxim `Jathi Chodikkaruthu Parayaruthu' was applicable to the members of all religions and castes and not merely to Ezhavas.

He said that it was unfortunate that the Indian Union Muslim League, which was reportedly described by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru as a dead horse, was calling the shots in the United Democratic Front.

SNDP district president V. K. Raghavan and V. K. Asokan also spoke.
