Manmohan presents awards

Devanatha Srinivasan conferred DRDO award

HONOURED: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh presenting the Silicon Trophy to Sitaram, Director, Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Bangalore, in New Delhi on Sunday.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday conferred the Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) Lifetime Achievement Award 2005 on Devanatha Srinivasan for his outstanding contribution to development of the Naval Underwater Surveillance System. The Silicon Trophy-2005 for outstanding contribution to communication, networking and information security was given to the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Bangalore, and the Titanium Trophy for the best science laboratory to the Naval Materials Research Laboratory, Ambernath.

The Agni Award for Excellence in Self Reliance for developing indigenous capability in solid propulsion system went to B. Shankar Rao and his team. G. Malkondaiah and his team were rewarded for their contribution to development and production of warship grade steel to meet the requirements of the Navy.

G. Elangovan and his team were given the Agni Award for Excellence in Self Reliance 2005 for their contribution to indigenous design of a new age computerised pilot selection system.
