BERLIN: Russia's Nadia Petrova defeated Justine Henin-Hardenne of Belgium 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the final to win the WTA German Open on Sunday. Meanwhile at Prague, third-seeded Shahar Peer of Israel rallied to beat fifth-seeded Samantha Stosur of Australia 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 and win the Prague Open. The 19-year-old Peer, who also won the Pattaya title on Thailand, struggled to impose herself against the Australian on the clay courts in the first set here. But under the gaze of Czech president Vaclav Klaus, Peer, the world number 35, gradually imposed herself on Stosur to run away with the next two sets.
