Zhao wins title

NEW DELHI: Sandhya Nagaraj came close to winning a maiden title in the professional circuit, but failed to capitalise on her chances as she surrendered 4-6, 6-4, 5-7 to the fourth-seeded Zhao Yi-Jing of China in the final of the Oil India Limited $10,000 ITF women's tennis tournament here on Saturday.

In a gripping climax, the left-handed Chinese was literally playing on one leg as she had aggravated a knee injury. In contrast, the 17-year-old Sandhya was stroking nicely and had four game points to go up 6-5. — Special Correspondent
