Billiards & Snooker
Sports Reporter
NEW DELHI: Former champion Devendra Joshi and Dhruv Sitwala will lead the Indian challenge at the Asian billiards championship that begins in Tehran. India lost one berth at the annual event after Pankaj Advani, the defending champion, withdrew from the event to prepare for college examinations. The Asian championship offers a good chance for the Indian cueists to gauge the field expected to compete at the Doha Asian Games in December. "Though some of our top cueists are not participating in the Asian championship, it will give us a good feedback to prepare our team for the Asian Games," said P.N. Roy, president, Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI).
Aditya Mehta, Lucky Vatnani and M. Faisal Khan will represent India in the under-21 Asian snooker championship being simultaneously held in Tehran.
