KOCHI: Host Regional Sports Centre had mixed luck in the first RSC mini-football tournament, which concluded at Kadavanthra on Sunday. Brian, with two goals in three minutes, helped RSC defeat Garrinchas Club (Kaloor) 2-1 and win the under-13 trophy. RSC was not so fortunate in the under-15 final. Despite enjoying the advantage of a one goal lead for a major part, the host lost to Amateurs (Aluva) in the final, with the tie-breaker proving to be the team's heart-breaker. The results: Juniors (under-13 final): RSC, Kochi 2 (Brian 2nd & 5th minutes) bt Garrinchas Club (Kaloor) 1 (Renjith 11th). (Semifinals): RSC 2 (Akhil 5th, Brian 25th) bt Don Bosco, Vaduthala 0; Garrinchas Club 2 (Renjith 24th, Akhil 29th) bt Udaya, Thevara 0. Seniors (under-15 final): Amateurs, Aluva 6 (Antony Christ 26th; in tie-breaker Antony, Alex, Melvin, Mathews, Vishnu) bt RSC, Kochi 5 (Eshan 6th; in tie-breaker Eshan, Appu, Ashwin, Sam). (Semifinals): Amateurs 8 bt Soccer, Panangad 7 in tie-breaker (full time 1-1); RSC 2 (Ashwin 6th, Krishnanand 22nd) bt Don Bosco, Vaduthala 1 (Aldrin 4th). Special prizes: Under-13: Renjith (Garrinchas Club, best player), Mohammed Najad (RSC, best goalkeeper). Under-15: Kiran (Soccer Panangad, best player), Sujith (Amateurs, Aluva, best goalkeeper).
