NEW DELHI: University and college teachers from several States will stage an indefinite dharna at Jantar Mantar near Parliament from May 16 to press for a non-profit, expanded and public-funded higher education structure to ensure 20 per cent student intake. The teachers under the banner of the All-India Federation of University and College Teachers' Organisation (AIFUCTO) would also demand the resolution of anomalies relating to pay revision made in 1996. All India Trade Union Congress general secretary Gurudas Dasgupta would inaugurate the dharna with teachers' representatives from Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat participating in it, AIFUCTO general secretary V. K. Tewari said.
