Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao launched a veiled attack on Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and the PCC president K. Keshava Rao at the PCC plenary here on Sunday "for ignoring the interests of the party workers". While two other MLAs, P. Janardhan Reddy and M. Shashidhar Reddy, who have struck a discordant note preferred to lie low sitting in a corner, it was the turn of Mr. Rao on Sunday to take up cudgels against the Government. Advising Dr. Reddy to visit the party offices in districts, he said, "The party will not benefit if the workers are unhappy. I appreciate your gesture in sanctioning land for the party headquarters at Hyderabad. But a situation where a few elected leaders enjoy all the benefits and the cadres get none is not conducive for party's health. Have we not seen one of our Chief Minister in the past suffer from the anger of our cadres?" Referring to the delayed Cabinet expansion, he asked, "Why should a Minister have three or four portfolios. More MLAs can become Ministers and share power if you divest the present ones of the additional portfolios. Go for expansion immediately after the panchayat elections and don't wait till the advent of the council." As for the PCC president, he was keeping quiet when some Ministers were talking against Telangana sentiment.
