Increased security for Vaishnodevi shrine

Multi-tier security following militant threats

Jammu: Following a militant threat to blow up the Vaishnodevi shrine near here on Sunday, a multi-tier security ring has been activated in and around the popular pilgrimage site, official sources said.

"We have activated a multi-tier security set-up involving the Army, CRPF, police and intelligence agency sleuths for foolproof security for the shrine and pilgrims en route to Vaishnodevi and at the Katra base camp in the wake of the militant threat," a top security source told PTI.

The manager of Jallandhar railway station had received a letter purportedly sent by the Lashker-e-Taiba who threatened to blow up the Vaishnodevi shrine on May 14 along with the railway station and the Golden Temple in Amritsar. — PTI
