HYDERABAD: "Winds of Change in Agriculture", a book written by Commissioner for Agriculture Poonam Malkondaiah and Devi Prasad, consultant, Centre for Good Governance, was released by Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy here on Sunday. The book carries an analysis of the findings of "Rythu Chaitanya Yatras" and impacts of similar programmes implemented last year. The impact analysis clearly showed that Government strategies have produced impressive results, in particular, the State recording highest-ever foodgrain production in 2005-06, according to a press release issued by Agriculture Minister N.Raghuveera Reddy's office.
Continuous review
The release said the training imparted to farmers on bridging the technology gap during the yatras and "rythu sadassus" would be monitored on a continuous basis through "polambadi" and other programmes. Mandal Agricultural Officers will visit villages for at least five days a week during the entire kharif and rabi seasons to guide farmers. Besides the Agriculture Minister, Major Irrigation Minister P.Lakshmaiah, MLAs K.Krishna Reddy and A. Indrakaran Reddy and Ms. Malkondaiah attended.
