MLA's murder accused arrested NEW DELHI: Maheshwari, who is suspected to have masterminded the murder of Krishnanand Rai, the BJP MLA in Uttar Pradesh last year, has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police. Maheshwari is a sharpshooter who along with his accomplices allegedly gunned down Mr. Rai in November last year.

Inspector dismissed

NEW DELHI: A Delhi police inspector, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for links with Abdul Karim Telgi, the alleged mastermind behind teh stamp paper scam, has been dismissed from service.

The CBI had arrested Puran Singh along with Sub-Inspector Gaurav Aggarwal over two years ago on charges of taking favours from Telgi for booking his rivals in a case registered at Defence Colony police station pertaining to the stamp paper scam.

In the wake of the CBI probe establishing his strong links with Telgi, he was dismissed from service this April.

Woman stabbed to death

NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old married woman was allegedly stabbed to death by a young man at Gautam Nagar in South Delhi on Sunday afternoon. The woman, a resident of Uttam Nagar in West Delhi, was allegedly having an affair with the accused. According to police, the accused, Rakesh Jha (23), had a fight with Suman over some issue. The argument soon took an ugly turn and Rakesh allegedly stabbed her to death. Rakesh later surrendered to the police.

Man found hanging

New Delhi : A Lajpat Nagar shopkeeper was found hanging under mysterious circumstances at his shop this morning. Police said Sunil Kumar Narula (25) was found hanging on the second floor of his 'D' Block shop in Lajpat Nagar's Central Market.

A resident of Faridabad, Narula had been missing for the last two days. While the police asserts that he committed suicide, sources alleged a mysterious death as his body was found hanging on the second floor, which was lying vacant, of the same building while his shop was at the basement.
