Two construction workers fall to death

BANGALORE: Two construction workers from Jharkhand were killed when they fell off the 11th floor of an apartment building under construction in Ashwath Nagar in Sanjay Nagar police station limits here on Sunday.

The dead, Ranjit Razak (20) and Kisto Mehta (24), were on the scaffolding, at a height of about 60 feet, when it (scaffolding) broke leading to their death. The body are kept in M.S. Ramaiah Hospital.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Malini Krishnamurthy, said the police have booked a case.

Killed

Sridhar (68), a former Canara Bank employee, died after he was hit by a private bus on Lalbagh Road on Sunday.

The police said the incident occurred when Sridhar was crossing the road while returning from an evening walk. He was killed on the spot. The Kalasipalyam traffic police have registered a case.

Snatched

Two motorcycle-borne men snatched Noorunissa's purse containing Rs. 3,000 in cash and a mobile phone in Rajaji Nagar 4th Block on Saturday.

The police said the incident occurred when Noorunissa was returning home from work.

Burglary

Cash and gold jewellery were taken away from the house of a retired government doctor in Poojary Layout in Sanjay Nagar police limits on Sunday.

The police said Mohammed Younis had locked the house and gone outside with his wife for lunch.

When they returned, they found Rs. 22,000 in cash and 80 grams of gold jewellery missing.

Suicide

Deepa (25) hanged herself to death at her house in Kamalanagar in Basaveshwaranagar police station limits on Sunday.

The police said her husband, Chikkahuchanna, had taken a loan a few years ago.

Interest on the loan amount began to rise as he was unable to repay it, the police said.

Worried over this, Deepa hanged herself from the ceiling, the police said.
