Letters to the Editor
It was heartening to read the address of Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy at the inaugural session of a conference on globalisation (May 15). Referring to the dangers of the digital divide, he mentioned too many instances of hi-tech facilities being enjoyed by a small percentage of people while a vast majority is denied even the basic amenities. Such statements hardly come from a Chief Minister. In fact, the voice of criticism on this issue is increasingly muted. The challenge of "safeguarding the interests of both these sections" should be taken up by the Karnataka State Planning Board in partnership with agencies that have special interest in the voice of excluded groups.
