Lucknow: The backwards cell of the Uttar Pradesh Congress on Monday took out a `rickshaw rally' in support of the Centre's proposal to introduce a 27 per cent quota for OBCs in elite educational institutions. More than 100 rickshaws were part of the procession which started from the Congress office at Mall Avenue area and after passing by the Assembly House culminated again at the party office where a small meeting was organised. "We chose this unique way to show our support to attract the attention of the public and those who were protesting the move," backwards cell president Chowhury Akhilesh Singh said. He claimed that `only 15 per cent people' were raising voices of protest over the proposal and others were `happy with the move' to reserve seats. -- PTI
