Haryana plans to boost tourism

To develop lake complexes in the State as ideal destinations

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has decided to develop the tourist complexes at Karna Lake in Karnal and Tilyar Lake in Rohtak as ideal tourist destination spots and promote Tikar Taal in Morni as a destination for adventure tourism, Minister of State for Tourism Kiran Choudhry announced here in Chandigarh on Monday.

The State Government had provided a major thrust to tourism promotion activities and Rs. 8 crores had been earmarked for tourism promotion in the Annual Plan for the current financial year, she said.

Ms.Choudhry disclosed that Kurukshetra was being promoted as an important tourism destination with the assistance of travel trade.Also, conservation and restoration of old monuments at the historic Yadavindra Gardens in Pinjore is being taken up with the help of a heritage preservation consultant.

Landscaping and beautification of Dream Valley at Badkhal Lake is also on the cards. A new Institute of Hotel Management is being set up at Kurukshetra by the Union Tourism Ministry for making skilled man power available for Tourism and Hotel Management projects.
