NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Monday sentenced a factory employee to seven-year jail term for having raped a co-worker at their workplace here two years ago. Additional Sessions Judge S P Garg also fined accused Kishen Poddar Rs 500 for the ``grave and serious'' offence committed on the premises of a factory in south Delhi's Okhla Industrial Estate. On August five, 2004, in the forenoon, the prosecutrix, who worked as a ``checker'' at the factory, went to fetch water from the second floor of the building, where the accused was also present. According to the prsecution, the accused, employed as a ``helper'', bolted the door of the room from the inside, assaulted the victim, and fled. The case was registered on August 11, when the prosecutrix lodged a complaint with the police, and charges were framed against the accused on Janury 12, 2005.- PTI
