1.2 lakh applications received for UGET

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: On the last day for issue of online applications for its Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET), the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) received a record 1.19 lakh applications.

However, about 26,000 applications were found to be double entries. Even discounting them, the consortium received over 82,000 hits on its website (www.comedk.org) specifically for application form downloads. Majority of the applicants were from the State with 32 per cent of the total applications downloaded by students from the Dalit and OBC categories.

This year, with the Karnataka Professional Education Institutions Bill reducing the number of professional seats available through the CET Cell, the COMEDK UGET has become crucial for students.
