Three held for auto-thefts
According to the police, two of the accused, Sanjay and Shahabuddin, were arrested at a picket in Badarpur this past Friday when they were found riding two stolen motorcycles. At their instance, the police arrested the alleged receiver of stolen property, Raju, at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. Three more stolen motorcycles were recovered from his hideout. The police said the accused would come to Delhi from Mathura on local trains and get down at Tughlakabad station. During the night, they used to break the locks of motorcycles parked by the roadside and ride straight away to Mathura.
Two arrested on cheating charge
The accused were arrested at Malviya Nagar on Sunday when they were sitting in their van. The police recovered a country-made revolver, a knife and bundles of papers in the shape of currency notes. According to the police, the accused -- Mahesh Dutt and Santosh Kumar -- would park their van near crowded places and offer people ride in their vehicle at nominal rates. On the way, they used to give envelopes to passengers asking them to keep their money in the envelopes as "there would be checking ahead". They would then replace the envelope containing money of the passengers with similar envelopes filled with bundles of papers. Those who could see through the ploy and refused to part with their money were robbed at gunpoint.
Alleged assault
The woman claimed that she, along with her son and a relative had gone to the Khayala Police Post under Tilak Nagar police station to complain about some family dispute. She claimed that her kin was beaten up and locked inside a bathroom, while she was raped. Police sources said the woman went to the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital for the check-up and medical reports were awaited. They claim that the woman has been involved in such incidents earlier also and a case has earlier been registered against her in the Tilak Nagar police station.
