Infosys to recruit 25,000 more people

Will hire 300 graduates in the U.S.

MUMBAI: Infosys Technologies will hire 25,000 more people this year of which, 5,000 will be in the mid-level, Mohandas Pai, director, human resources, education and research and administration, Infosys Technologies, said here on Tuesday.

Addressing the media here, he said "we will hire 300 young graduates in the U.S. this year and in July-August, train them in our Mysore campus. We are also experimenting with hiring 25 people in the U.K. this year.''

Besides, the company plans to increase its employee strength in China from the current 500 by a further 800-1,000 this year. The plan is to reach 10,000 employees in China in four years.

Infosys is planning a training campus in Shanghai and Guangzhou in China. Around three per cent of the company's employee strength is non-Indian and it has an Australian subsidiary with 400 staff. "The mandate is to globalise much faster than your growth rate,'' said Mr. Pai. The company expects to grow at 30 per cent plus in the current year.

With an annual spend of $100 million on training, the company will add six million sq. ft. for training facilities over the next 12 months. It has invested Rs. 500 crore in training facilities in Mangalore, Bhubaneshwar , Tiruvananthapuram and Chandigarh and will spend another Rs. 500 crore over the year.

Besides, it has invested Rs. 600 crore in Mysore and will invest a further Rs. 600 crore in the next 12-15 months. The Mysore campus is large enough to seat 4,500 people with 2,500 residential rooms. It is now building another centre here. It is also looking at a 1.8 million sq. ft. facility in Hyderabad with 9,000 seats for 5,200 employees.
