Letters to the Editor
The media have been hinting at a fuel price hike. With the spiralling cost of oil, the U.S. is taking steps to introduce biofuels, which are renewable and eco-friendly. India is a tropical country where the potential to grow biofuel is phenomenal. Paying our farmers is a better option than paying OPEC!
H.N. Ramakrishna,
* * * There is no indication of fuel prices falling. India being an oil deficient nation seems to be the most vulnerable. Import of oil is severely eating away our foreign reserves. So a price hike is inevitable. It is time India explored other energy options. Also, while improving relations with the U.S., India should not lose sight of the energy rich South American countries that are looking for new markets.
