KIADB has acquired 150 acres of land on Nadur-Kesaratigi Road

  • KIADB acquired 600 acres of land on Nandur-Kesaratigi Road for developing it into industrial area
  • As much as 200 acres of land has been developed and distributed to industrialists

GULBARGA: Deputy Commissioner Anjum Parvez, who is also chairman of the District Single Window Agency for Industries, has recommended to the Government and Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) to allot 150 acres of the land acquired by KIADB on Nadur-Kesaratigi Road for developing a cluster of "dal" mills.

In a letter to the chief executive officer of KIADB, Mr. Parvez said that at a meeting held here on May 1, the agency had decided to urge KIADB to allot 212 acres of land at concessional rate to entrepreneurs to develop it into a "dal mill zone."

It was also decided to urge KIADB to allot land at a concessional rate of Rs 1.75 lakh an acre to the entrepreneurs, the letter said.

The KIADB acquired 600 acres of land on Nandur-Kesaratigi Road for developing it into industrial area.

As much as 200 acres of land has been developed and distributed to industrialists. Out of the remaining 400 acres, 40 acres have been developed and the KIADB is in the process of distributing it to entrepreneurs.

Bhimashankar B. Patil, president of the Small Scale Industries Owners Association and joint secretary Anand Mohan, in a letter to the Chief Minister, referred to the decisions at the meeting on creating a cluster of Dal Mills in the industrial area proposed by KIADB, and urged him to direct KIADB to allot at least 150 to 200 acres for creating a separate Dal Mill zone in the industrial area.

Mr Patil said Gulbarga district, known as the "dal bowl" of South India, had a good potential for developing into a major centre for processing red gram. Establishing a cluster of dal mills at one place would enable the Government to persuade the Centre to declare Gulbarga district as a special economic zone.

As many as 110 industrialists have submitted applications to the Single Window Agency on Industry seeking land at Rs 1.75 lakh an acre.
