Judge raps police in two cases

Staff Reporter

Suri's remand extended till May 30

  • Case of conspiracy relating to Paritala Ravi's house blast
  • Murder of Tagarakunta Prabhakar

ANANTAPUR: The Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate's Court admonished the Two Town police here on Tuesday in the cases of conspiracy to blast the house of Paritala Ravindra here in 1999 and the murder of Tagarakunta Prabhakar in 2004. He directed the police to speed up the investigation in both the cases.

Earlier, reacting to the complaints of several lawyers on the inconvenience being caused to their clients whenever G. Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri was being brought to the court in different cases, AJFMC Moses stormed out of the court hall to observe the situation outside. He chided the police in the court premises for keeping other clients at a distance when Suri was being brought.

In the conspiracy case of Paritala Ravindra's house blast the judge pointed out that a few warrants were still pending and questioned the police what they had been doing all these years. He directed the police to speed up the investigation and arrest the remaining suspects or else he would split the case between the arrested suspects and those eluding the police on May 30.

The judge also told the police that he would take up the matter of negligence of the police to the notice of the Superintendent of Police in the form of a letter.

In the Tagarakunta Prabhakar murder case, the judge questioned the police over the delay in filing the chargesheet. The judge extended the judicial custody of Suri in both the cases to May 30.
