Special Correspondent
Pondicherry: K Lakshminarayanan, the leader, Legislature wing of the three-member Puduchery Munnetra Congress (PMC), met Lt Governor M.M. Lakhera at Raj Nivas here on Tuesday. The Deputy Leader of the party in the Assembly V.K. Ganapthy and its whip N. Anand accompanied him during his meeting with Mr. Lakhera. M. Lakshminarayanan told The Hindu later that it was only a courtesy meeting and bore no political significance. Mr. Lakshminaranayan said that his party would function as a responsible Opposition and discharge its duties for the welfare of the people, particularly the poor. While Mr Lakshminarayanan was elected from the Cassicade constituency in the heart of Pondicherry town, Mr. Anand and Mr. Ganapathy were elected from Bussy in Pondicherry and Karaikal South constituencies respectively.
