Dharmapuri: A male bison was found dead at Dadanaickanpatti in the Thoppur Forest Range, 20 km from Dharmapuri on Tuesday. According to Forest Department sources, following information from villagers that a bison was lying unconscious in the Thoppur forests a team of Forest officials and Veterinarians rushed to the spot. The bison, aged around 6 years, had strayed from the adjoining Shevaroy Hills in Yercaud, and was moving from place to place. Efforts by veterinarians to save the bison, which was sick, failed. Post-mortem was done on the spot, and the carcass cremated in the Thoppur forests.
